Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ (Philippians 3:8)

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your ability to consistently hear God’s voice?
What can you do to improve that?

In yesterday’s devotional titled “Changing Lives – Breaking Through,” we continued with our theme of Christ-enabled living, impossible living, heroic living. Yesterday’s key message: “When you change your thinking and your HABITS, you will change your life.” You were presented with an opportunity to participate in today’s life-changing webinar to change your thinking and habits.

Today at Noon EST, Jerry Graham and I are hosting an introductory webinar about our outstanding 5 week Journal 201 course titled “UNCOMMON Journaling for Destiny.” Rev. Matt Gregory and Dan Paulsen will be sharing their first hand testimonies of the impact of our prior course. Even if you are not available, you can receive a link to the recorded webinar simply by registering. CLICK HERE to learn more.

While preparing the PowerPoint presentation for today’s webinar, I was prompted to write down some of the new fruit I personally experienced from the Journal 201 course. Here is a partial list:
1) Began using The Journal myself
2) Got connected to Debra Thompson Roedl and the Wealth Alliance Group
3) Transformation Virginia was officially launched
4) Launched my own web store with products, courses, and memberships
5) Soul Purpose Church (my church) formally adopted “Coaching you to discover and fulfill your soul purpose” as its mission
6) Door opened for an alliance between Team Destiny and Lifeforming Leadership Coaching
7) I bought a brand new bicycle. My old one was more than 25 years old (literally an antique).

In my August 22 devotional, I mentioned that Joseph Umidi was my top new contact in 2006 and Debra Thompson Roedl has been my top new contact in 2008.

On August 19, Joseph sent the monthly Lifeforming Leadership Coaching e-newsletter promoting our webinar to his 1,500 or so contacts. In his message titled “Coaching with an ‘Ear To Hear’,” Joseph wrote:

“I am pleased to offer all of our coaches the unique combination of 2 keys to Hearing God for yourself that will translate into more effective “hearing” with your clients. This is the unique combination of journaling and coaching to clarify what God is saying to you and giving you the ability to help your clients discover the same for them. Dr. Jerry Graham and Dr. Randy Peck have collaborated to design this life changing 5-week process for you that I highly recommend.”

Debra Roedl is regarded by some as the top internet marketing strategist in the world. When I met in person with her at the Marriott Crystal City (VA) on August 16 (the same day as The Call DC), she committed to promote our combo journaling and coaching courses. to her Wealth Alliance contacts around the world.

A few weeks ago I talked to Buddy Smith, Executive Assistant to the Chairman for the American Family Association. He told me he is willing to have Jerry and I interviewed about our combo coaching and journaling courses on Today’s Issues (American Family Radio). AFR has more than 1 million listeners nationwide.

Obviously God has His mantle of favor on the “UNCOMMON Journaling for Destiny” course. On behalf of all our Team Destiny teammates, we invite you to be blessed by registering for today’s webinar. Even if you aren’t available today, you will receive a link to our recorded webinar just for registering. Our target audience is people who are passionate to know God and make Him known. We are training champions for Christ.
Know well the condition of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds; (Proverbs 27:23)

How do you flesh out a goal?
How do you count the total cost to see if that goal is reasonable to pursue?
How important is keeping a written budget?

Long ago, before I went to college, my father taught me to keep a detailed, written budget for my finances. Doing that had a huge positive impact on the decisions I made and my future options. It allowed me to give generously, save, take several nice family vacations each year, and buy reliable cars without assuming any debt. More importantly, the budget allowed me to say “No” to things I couldn’t afford. That took away a lot of stress.

Once I began working as a physician, my budget helped me plan and make monthly investments into my retirement account. It helped me invest my money wisely. One year, my retirement account actually grew by more than twice my annual gross income as a physician.

Many people outright reject the discipline of budgeting and give a myriad of excuses for why that’s not for them. Others use a budget simply as a means to track expenses. But I can tell you first hand that budgeting is much more than that. Financial budgeting is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.

But what about time and energy? How important is it to budget those? Is it practical and helpful to develop written budgets for our time and energy? If so, how do we go about doing that?

Recently during the Life Focus workshop in Virginia Beach, I learned about personal core values and value statements. I became aware of how understanding and clarifying my core values helps me decide what to do and not to do. I learned about A, B, and C priorities.

Of the 10 areas on the wheel of life (e.g. spiritual life, financial stewardship, work, marriage, family, etc), we were told to put only 2-3 in the “A” category, 5 in the “C” category, and the rest in the “B” category. “A” priorities are areas of my life that I want to focus my time, energy, and finances to grow. I learned it is impractical to try to grow in more than just a few areas at any one time. That was a real eye-opener for me.

For each “A” priority, we were asked to set a goal and then flesh out that goal. Using the help of other life coaches and a variety of exercises, we broke our goals into manageable parts – stages, projects, tasks, etc. Then we had to count the costs – time, money, energy. After doing this for my goal, I realized it was not a good idea to pursue my goal before the end of the year and that even in 2008 it would need to be broken down into manageable stages.

I love to dream big and set lofty goals. However, failing to flesh out my goals and not counting the total cost in the past has cost me dearly. What about you? How can you be a better steward with your dreams, goals, time, energy, and finances?

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your patience with me as I journey through life. Teach me to be a good steward with all You have entrusted to me. Thank You that Your Word is a lamp unto my feet. Bless the choices and decisions I make each day to benefit Your Kingdom. Bless those who read this message likewise. In Yeshua’s name I pray and give You glory. Amen.

Here is what Naomi said:

I receive your daily blessing. I am currently working on a project that will certainly be a blessing to those in South Africa who are without a bible. I have solicited many churches in and around Culpeper for prayer, bible donations, new or used and/or monetary contributions to purchase and mail bibles. A monetary donation of just $10 will purchase bibles.

I have a cd of which I will more than happy to share at one of your meetings or drop it by the Light House Coffee with Jacob and Joyce. They are wonderful Christians and the atmosphere of their cafe clearly indicates that Jesus is first in their lives and I can feel the spirit in there each time I walk in.

For additional information you may go to the websites: http://africabibles.com/ or http://www.yourbiblesaves.com/

Of the bible goal of 4 million bibles; 329,969 have been received and I have only been able to collect 700 from Culpeper and surrounding area churches. I feel certain that the Culpeper County churches can and will do better. I recently sponsored a Bible for Africa in the park and only 6 bibles were dropped off. This a project that I would like to repeat the First Sunday in September. Please pray for the efforts to send bibles or monetary contributions to Remnant Publications. Again, please see the above websites for more information

I can be reached on 540 829-9454 or via email twosouldiersmom@aol.com. Yes, I have 2 soldiers in the Army, one of which will be leaving in August for Iraq and a daughter in law currently in Iraq. My oldest son has served 2 terms and the Lord has watched over him and returned him safely. Please remember my military family in prayer for their safe return home.

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, I pray that You help spread this message and that many people respond to this need. We cry out for mercy for all those who are suffering in Africa. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

“We are in a season of massive change in the Spirit, and many are being relocated or properly placed into the destiny that generations of Christians have prayed into!” – prophetic words by Shawn Bolz (All You Need is Love)

And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” (Luke 5:10b)

Is it possible God could save one billion souls in a year? In a month? In a day?
What role has God called you to play in this major worldwide harvest?

On July 13, I did a webinar (online seminar) for some friends, including Adam Greer, showing how to turbocharge their communication and thereby magnify their impact and profitability. During the 45 minute PowerPoint presentation, I shared my life purpose to be a catalyst to save one billion souls. While a catalyst isn’t even necessary for a reaction to happen, it might make the reaction happen 10,000 times faster.

Just as prayer is God’s supernatural highway of communication in the spiritual realm, so the Internet is God’s supernatural highway of communication in the physical realm. When the Holy Spirit authors a message, He is responsible for the results. The most powerful and effective form of marketing nowadays is social marketing – through the web.

Yesterday morning during my ACT peer group phone meeting, Adam Greer told me when he initially heard me share the vision to save “one billion souls,” he was very skeptical; that is until he subsequently read the following on the home page of RealSummerOfLove.com: [www.RealSummerOfLove.com] “It is widely believed we are on the verge of a major worldwide harvest that could reach as many as a billion souls.”

I have to admit that God’s vision to save one billion souls in a very short period of time seemed extreme to me initially. The Holy Spirit revealed that to me a few years ago during intense times of prayer, worship, fasting, and journaling. As I began sharing that vision, I discovered “In the last two years of his life, Dr. Bright cast the vision of reaching one billion souls for Christ and planting five million new churches.” Out of this, the “Billion Soul Campaign” [http://www.call2all.org/Group/Group.aspx?id=1000015933] was birthed.

When GOD TV [www.god.tv] officially launched in America on the DirectTV Channel on October 1, 2006, I noticed the home page banner prophetically declared “ONE BILLION SOULS”. Even this launch date was very significant on God’s calendar because it was the International Day to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Prayer Power
Merciful Father, thank You for the privilege to be alive in this generation. Thank You that we are on the verge of a major worldwide harvest of souls. Forgive us LORD when we make plans of man and build our own kingdoms instead of building the Kingdom of God. Open the eyes of pastors around the world to see they are called to pastor their cities, not just their congregations. Support, encourage, and hold accountable pulpit and marketplace ministers to unite in prayer to bless their communities. Mold us as only You, the Master Potter, can do. Teach us. Have Your way. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Which pearl of wisdom below might help you the most?

For the past nine months, I have been preparing daily reflections. Each reflection usually starts with a pearl of wisdom followed by a Scripture and a question. Yesterday, I compiled all the pearls of wisdom for the past nine months. Today, I sorted them by category. Here are my favorite ones. To see the entire list, visit the Link of the Day below.

• To be spiritually healthy, you must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.
• The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine!
• Simplify to multiply!
• It’s the presence of God that changes us and our circumstances!
• The most common cause of unanswered prayer is prayerlessness.
• The businessman’s ministry in the marketplace will only advance to the extent that his marriage permits.
• You reap what you sow, later than you sow, much more than you sow, and where you sow.
• Your respect for time is a prediction of your financial future.
• The size of the question determines the size of the result.
• Busyness is a great enemy of relationships.
• What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you!
• You redeem your time by seeking God’s Kingdom first!
• If you want to see something you have never seen, you have to do something you have never done!

Prayer Power
Father, we live in an information age when so much information is available at our finger tips. Yet for many of us, life has never been more complicated. Help us to simplify our lives to keep our focus on You in all we do. Bless us with the ability to sort through the rubble and lay hold of simple habits and principles that will guide us to be good stewards with our time, talent, and treasure. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

What steps are you taking to know Jesus better?

One of the many benefits of doing these daily devotionals is finding new links that help me grow deeper with God. While searching for yesterday’s Link of the Day, I came across Navigators.

Navigators have invested their lives in people for more than 70 years, coming alongside them one to one to study the Bible, develop a deepening prayer life, and memorize and apply Scripture. Navigators is dedicated to helping people navigate spiritually, to know Christ and to make Him known as they look to Him and His Word to chart their lives. Their ultimate goal is to equip people to fulfill 2 Timothy 2:2 – to teach what they have learned to others.

KNOW who Jesus is
There’s nothing better in this life than knowing Jesus. It’s the heart of The Navigators’ motto – To Know Christ and to Make Him Known. Check out the stories, articles, and resources on the Navigators website to find out what’s it’s like to have Jesus as your friend.

GROW deep with God
Like any relationship, your friendship with Jesus should be getting better and better as the days go by. Navigators has lots of articles, books, and conferences to help you grow closer to the Lord Jesus.

SERVE
Would you like to get involved with The Navigators? They can use you! Whatever your skills, education, or experience there’s a place you can plug in to The Navigators’ ministry.

SUPPORT
In the Bible, giving money to help others serve Christ is described as a “sweet-smelling sacrifice” (Philippians 4:18) and a “grace” (2 Corinthians 8:7). The Apostle Paul said, “I want you to experience the blessing that issues from generosity.”

Prayer Power
Father, thank You for Your Word which is my best navigator. Thank You for godly mentors who help me navigate spiritually. Thank You for the Navigators ministry. Help me to know, grow, serve and support in ways that best honor You. Bless our community with many people who help others navigate successfully through life. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. (Nehemiah 3:1)

Where and how is God using you and me to advance His Kingdom?

Nehemiah 3:1-32 gives a strategic example of teamwork that accomplishes an impossible task. The walls around Jerusalem were rebuilt in fifty-two days. If your vision and goals can be accomplished by yourself, your goals are too small. Approximately fifty times, the words restore, repair and/or build are used in this chapter.

There are several principles that are applicable to restoring or building something:

1. Anything that is lasting begins with the spiritual and leadership must begin with the preachers (v-1). Eliashib the high priest started the building.

2. There must be trust among the workers.

3. Everyone must be focused on the same goal. Rebuilding the wall was their focus at this stage of the project. Later, the emphasis will be on reviving the people.

4. Planning and organization is necessary to achieve great things. The phrase “Next to” appears throughout the passage. The people who lived next to each other worked together.

5. Motivation is a necessary and continual need.

6. It takes all kinds of people to carry out a huge project. There were priests (v-1), goldsmiths (v-8), women (v-12), Levites or ministers (v-17), and merchants (v-32).

7. There was God’s favor and blessing on this project.

Prayer Power
Father, You designed us so that we’re better together. Help each of us to be team players. Your work is more important than any personal agenda. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)

Do you choose to see possibilities?
Do you really believe they are there?

Yesterday, Joseph Umidi and Dan Tingley came to Culpeper Virginia from Virginia Beach to bless our city. We had a total of 15 people for this very first “Healthy Virginia” meeting. While we had an agenda, God changed it considerably. People shared their hearts and God conceived something great that will be unstoppable.

I knew that Joseph was the founder of Transformational Leadership Coaching (TLCI). I learned that he also is a pastor who oversees eight churches as well as a professor at Regent University. While Dan already had a lot on his plate with three of his own companies, God called him recently to help Joseph grow the LIFE coaching network.

Michael Stay brought a new 22 minute video by Dewitt Jones called “Celebrate what’s right with the world!” We watched that whole movie as a group. Dewitt is one of America’s top professional photographers with a career stretching over twenty years with National Geographics. As a motion picture director, he had two films nominated for Academy Awards before he was thirty.

In Celebrate What’s Right With The World, Dewitt Jones asks: Do we choose to see possibilities? Do we really believe they’re there? He assures us that there is always more than one right answer. Celebrating what’s right with the world helps us recognize the possibilities and find solutions for many of the challenges before us.

The icing on the cake yesterday was that all six of the most influential coaches in my life were present together for the first time.

Prayer Power
Thank You LORD for bringing Joseph and Dan to Culpeper to bless our city. Thank You for all the good seeds that were planted in rich soil yesterday. May You water those with Your miracle grow. Bless and grow Your team to make Virginia the healthiest state in the nation. Call forth leaders in Culpeper to go through TLCI’s LIFE coach training beginning in mid January 2007. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

It is not easy to take a Sabbath. You’ve got to decide to do it. A regular Sabbath puts a brake on overwork.

“Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.” (Leviticus 23:3)

How consistent are you at keeping the Sabbath holy each week?

Busyness is a great enemy of relationships. We must address the serious problem of busyness in our lives to experience a great awakening. The devil doesn’t have to get us to do anything bad to be at work in our lives. All he has to do is keep us busy.

My father told me that when we lived in Charlottesville Virginia in the early 1960′s, only one business was open on Sundays and that was an international one. Today, hundreds of businesses are open on Sundays and people scurry around shopping. Sports and children activities have invaded every day of the week. Families have little time of solitude together to communicate.

It is not easy to take a Sabbath. You’ve got to decide to do it. A regular Sabbath puts a brake on overwork. In order to practice Sabbath, you must learn one powerful word, “No”. That little word creates the hearth in which the fires of our calling can burn brightly.

Sabbath is … an attitude of the heart which recognizes the need for regular soul care within the rhythm of daily life… Sabbath is the gift of rest, reflection, and renewal – a time of preparation at the beginning of the week, not a restoration from exhaustion at the end of a long busy week. – David Steffenson, First Lutheran Church, Little Falls, Minnesota

Prayer Power
Father God, the Bible makes it clear that Your command to keep the Sabbath holy is an eternal command. Forgive me for the many times I have disobeyed You by failing to take a Sabbath rest. Bless me to experience the wholeness and joy that come from observing Your order for life by observing Sabbath time. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
