We have a living God, a speaking God! One who loves us, His children, and He particularly loves to speak to us! He can speak to any one of us who love Him.

“In the Last Days I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17).

You might be thinking, “I read the Bible every day, so I’m hearing from the Lord every day.” While it’s good to read the Bible, the recorded Word of the Lord, which is the foundation of our Christian faith, it’s wonderful to also hear straight from the Lord and “take heed to His sure word of prophecy, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in our hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

His Word says to “Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6). So, every day should be a new experience for us, a new listening to the Voice of the Lord. Why live only on yesterdays spiritual food, when we can have fresh “manna from Heaven” (John 6:58) every day? Jesus still speaks today! Listen to what He told me on June 15, 2008:

I have the KEYS – simple keys to BREAKTHROUGH. It’s not complicated. You have to trust me on this. Just keep writing down what You hear me saying. I know what works and what doesn’t. I am the Alpha and Omega, so I see the end from the beginning. I have to show You before you can show others. What you shared at Soul Purpose Church today was good. Even though it seems that most people didn’t get it, seeds were planted. You have a generous heart. What you’re doing in secret, I will reward openly. That’s My word – that’s My promise.

Are you chasing the Wild Goose?
If not now, when?

I’m so excited. My spirit is jumping with joy. This week I’m on the verge of perhaps the greatest breakthrough of my life and I see breakthroughs happening all around me. I see the favor of God upon TEAM DESTINY and JIREH Marketing Members. I’ll be sharing about some of those this week and next. The keyword for this week is “WILD GOOSE.”

My prayer is that you will catch the Holy Spirit fever and choose to jump into His flowing river of living water. The Wild Goose chase has begun and we’re going after Him. Incidentally, Mark Batterson wrote a sequel to his “Chase The Lion” book called “Wild Goose Chase: Reclaim the Adventure of Pursuing God.”

In that book, Mark shares: “Celtic Christians had a name for the Holy Spirit –An Geadh-Glas, or ‘the Wild Goose.’ The name hints at mystery. Much like a wild goose, the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the name may sound a little sacrilegious, I cannot think of a better description of what it’s like to follow the Spirit through life. I think the Celtic Christians were on to something….

Today, allow me to share an amazing God story about Dewey McDonnell that is unfolding quickly. For more than 3 years, Dewey McDonnell has played a lead role on our core team for Pray Culpeper. He was one of the first people to sign up to be on my intercessory prayer team for Your Daily Blessing when that was formally announced in November 2008.

When I asked people on my intercessory prayer team to submit their own prayer requests so I could pray about those, Dewey responded asking me to pray for 3 things. One of those was for multiplication of the Experiencing God LIFE groups that Pastor Mark Jenkins had helped ignite back in September 2008.

Little did I know that I would become part of one of those Experiencing God LIFE groups and that we would meet at Elizabeth Powell’s beautiful home, just one mile from where I live. As a result of the first meeting, the “Experiencing God Through Journaling” webinar series was birthed. Two days ago, I emailed Richard Blackaby to open a door to discuss partnering with Blackaby Ministries and Lifeway Christian Resources to launch “Experiencing God” webinars world-wide.

Because of my involvement with the “Experiencing God” LIFE group, I learned that Katherine McDonnell, Dewey’s daughter competing in the ACC Championship swim meet taking place on Feb 20-21.

On Sunday Feb 22, Dewey sent an email sharing that Katherine helped lead her University of Virginia (UVA) swim team to a second straight ACC Championship. Her IM medley team broke UVA’s all-time record. Katherine also place second overall in the 100m breaststroke and third in the 200m breaststroke, eclipsing her previous best times and qualifying her for the national meet in Dallas.

  • I’ve been working feverishly to prepare the way for mass marketing of my journaling e-book. Lynne Lee has helped to propel me forward.
  • Jerry, Sharon, and I recorded 3 more Wellness webinars together in the process of creating a Wellness e-book and paid course
  • I interviewed Deb Smith having her share her God story and vision to create an e-book to monetize her coaching business through an Information product.
  • Julia and I are continuing with our Finance LIFE group on Saturday mornings led by Pastor Matt and benefiting greatly

2) What is new in your life since we last met that you’d like the others in the group to know?

  • Lynne Lee is a mother of 5 in England, certified life coach, avid two-way journaler, and Web 2.0 authority. As a result of Lynne asking to interview me on her inaugural webinar for her new Christian Life Coaching on Mar 3, I had 2 long and extremely valuable online strategy sessions with her in the past 2 weeks. As a result of that, I opened a KickStart (1shoppingcart) account 2 days ago to not only sell products, but to manage all my contact lists and handle all my autoresponders. I now have my free ebook and $77 version available there for purchase. I have substantially improved my Lead Generation and Sales pages.
  • I connected at the heart level with Debra Bosacki, an avid journaler for 29 years. As a result Jerry and I interviewed her on our “Experiencing God Through Journaling” webinar on Feb 24.Because of that, I discovered Xiosoft Audio. That has the best Sales page I have ever seen. Jesus told me to invite Debra to a Joint Venture opportunity to co-host weekly “Journaling Cafe” webinars at 3 pm EST on Thursdays starting in March.
  • I emailed Mark Virkler Jerry and my “Summary proposal for Joint Venture between Christian Leadership University and JIREH Marketing”
  •  Through Jack Stagman, I connected with Chauncey Hutter, one of the leading marketplace ministers in the state of Virginia
  • I began helping Mike and Valerie Webb launch their marketing campaign via Web 2.0 for Great Outdoor Endeavors
  • The LORD revealed His assignment for Marching Through Culpeper to Virginia Morton and me – “Bringing truth, understanding, and reconciliation”
  • Through Twitter and my weekly webinars, I connected personally with Chicke Fitzgerald, perhaps the greatest connectors I have ever met

3) What’s a win or good thing that happened that you’d like to celebrate with us?

  • Dewey McDonnell’s daughter, Katherine, helped lead her team to a second straight ACC championship in swimming. Her IM relay team won first place and broke the all-time ACC record. By combining online journaling, life coaching, and Web 2.0 with what they already are doing around the world, there will be Explosive Kingdom Impact.
  • GW Dameron, pastor of City on a Hill Church in Culpeper, found a new job after being laid off in Nov 2008.

4. What’s something that you might like to bring to the group this week?

a) Need continued prayer to complete my “UNCOMMON Journaling For Breakthroughs” ebook. Completing this will release a log jam of ideas and opportunities that God has been waiting to birth.

How will you bless a veteran today?

I am extremely humbled by the grace of God with the prompt responses to yesterday’s prayer request for an Intercessory Team for Your Daily Blessing. After getting my haircut by Rev. Mark Jarvis yesterday morning, I went swimming. As I was walking into the Powell Wellness Center, I saw my dear friend Gene Foret. Gene immediately told me he signed up earlier that morning to be on the Intercessory Team. Gene and I ended up spending about 90 minutes of quality time exercising together and conversing.

When I got home around 1 pm, I discovered 8 people had already signed for the Intercessory Team. I found the following 4 email messages from different people in different parts of the world.

“Thank you. I shall be honored to be on your team. You may find this hard to believe, but this morning as I was driving to work, I felt so forlorn that I was not involved actively in the work of God, but at the same time, I did not give up hope. I cried out to the Lord to please use me in some minuscule manner. And hardly 14 hours later, I am now involved in the most wonderful and marvelous manner. God always answers our prayers as long as we leave the matter in his hands. Praise the Lord.”

“I gladly have signed up to be on your intercessory team. Is it Henry Blackaby that says ‘Find out where God is working, and then join Him’? God is working through you and your ministry. If you’ll hand me a ‘shovel,’ I’ll put on some gloves (and kneepads ;-) ) and join you! To move forward, we must lift up each other in this intercessory way. I would like to do this for you, for Matt, and for Mark Jarvis. I thank & praise God for each of you.”

“Randy I would consider it a privilege to pray for you and your ministry. I are an inspiration to me and I consider you a valuable friend. We are all working on the same mission. To spread the news about our savior, Jesus the Christ. I love you and appreciate your ministry.”

“Yes, Randy, I wish to join in interceding for you per your weekly email guiding us with what to intercede for (plus any additional things the Lord prompts).”

This morning I discovered the YDB Intercessory Team has grown to 12 people. In Biblical numerology, 12 is “THE NUMBER OF GOVERNMENTAL PERFECTION. There were 12 tribes of Israel; 12 Apostles, 12 foundations in the heavenly Jerusalem; 12 gates; 12 pearls; 12 angels. The measurements of New Jerusalem are 12,000 furlongs or stadia, while the wall will be 144 (12 x 12) cubits (Rev. 21:16-17).”

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege to be an American. Thank You for all the veterans who died to give me the right to be free. Thank You for my father who faithfully served this great nation for nearly 40 years and modeled integrity to his children. Thank you for the veterans who fought and/or served to protect the freedoms we hold so dear in America. May You bless our veterans and their families. May You bless the USA. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your use of Web 2.0?
What are you going to do to improve that?

I feel like a kid in Toy Land. During the past 6 weeks, I’ve plunged big time into Social Marketing and have discovered how much fun Web 2.0 is and how effective it is at building relationships and growing my network. Leadership is about influence.

What’s the difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. Well, my wife gave the best summary I’ve ever heard while we were walking earlier this week – Web 1.0 is 1-way communication and Web 2.0 is 2-way.

Last week I was saying Web 2.0 is at least 10-100 times more powerful than Web 1.0, but now I realize that’s a gross underestimate. Web 2.0 is at least 100-1,000 times more powerful than Web 1.0.

Let me give just a few simple examples to make my point. I’ve been sending these daily devotionals for 27+ months now. Typically, my net growth rate (new subscribers minus unsubscribers minus invalid email addresses) is about 7-10 people per month.

Well, since beginning the five week series of webinars titled “UNCOMMON Social Marketing (Web 2.0)” on Oct 2, my net growth with my Constant Contact list alone has been 158. That doesn’t include Twitter.

On October 9, I hosted Denise Wakeman and Patsi Krakoff, a.k.a. The Blog Squad, as my guest experts. They were awesome. What they shared would benefit every business, every ministry, and every church. I was so impressed, I had the entire webinar professionally transcribed for my very first time and then used that to make a Camtasia video. I published that video online and it’s FREE for 3 more days. See today’s Link of the Day before this opportunity passed you by forever.

Denise recommended everyone on the webinar open up their own Twitter account. She said all the shakers and the movers on the Internet are now using Twitter. She said she was a skeptic until she started using it. I was a skeptic too until I started using Twitter. Now I’m a believer. Let me share why.

Since opening my own Twitter account two weeks ago, I now am following 179 people and have 96 people following me. I’ve had 36 new people follow me in just the past 2 days without doing anything to try to attract them. What’s so significant about that? Every Tweet I post (and each only takes me 2-3 minutes) shows up instantly at the top of every personal Twitter web page for everyone who is following me. But not only am I building relationships and influencing those people, but everyone who is following them as well. That’s an opportunity to influence tens of thousands of new people in just two weeks.

In the past week using Twitter, I got connected to “The Internet Marketing Inner Circle.” I’ve learned more about Internet marketing and a variety of other interesting topics than I did in the past year. This is incredible. I feel like I’ve had my head buried in the sand by not learning about and using Web 2.0 until the past 2 months.

My favorite Bible is the “The Maxwell Leadership Bible.” According to Dr. John Maxwell, “the American church is dying due to lack of strong leadership. Nothing is more important than leadership. Everything rises and falls on leadership. Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.” To be a leader, you must have others follow you and your example.

Jesus said the whole Bible could be summarized in the Greatest Commandment – to love God and love people. In other words, “Life is about relationships.” Other names for Social Marketing are “Relationship Marketing” and “Attraction Marketing.”

Doesn’t it make sense that when you add value to other people first without expecting anything back from them, they will automatically be attracted to you. Jesus said, “It’s in giving we receive.” I want to be an UNCOMMON Giver. What about you? Will you let me coach you to unleash the power of the web in your business or ministry?

In response to yesterday’s devotional titled “New Breed – Alpha and Omega”, I received several inspirational replies. Robert Hartzell, cofounder of Fountains of Life, referring to my You Tube link said, “Here’s another just as powerful. I cried like a baby.” His link to Wintley Phipps You Tube video is extremely educational, funny, and inspirational. See today’s Link of the Day.

It’s interesting that during the worship service at Soul Purpose Church on Sunday Jan 13, Mike Webb shared how his LIFE group watched the movie Amazing Grace the past week. He told the story of how John Newton came to write the song “Amazing Grace.” Then out-of-the-blue, I receive Robert’s link. As Wintley Phipps points out, we are all connected by God’s amazing grace.

Hearing pastor Wintley Phipps sing gospel music has brought tears to the eyes of presidents, celebrities, and even Mother Teresa. Now through the U.S. Dream Academy, Wintley is using the power of his voice to reach out to the children of prisoners and give them a chance to achieve their dreams.

In today’s Link of the Day, Wintley shares the history of “Amazing Grace” in a powerful way. He says John Newton wrote the lyrics to the song, but the author of the hymn is unknown – probably a slave. Before John Newton became a Christian, he was the captain of a slave ship. Wintley goes on to say “Almost all Negro spirituals are written on the black notes of the piano. There are 5 black notes on the piano and those 5 notes keep recurring.” Then he demonstrates. Wow!!!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of inspiration and divine connections. Thank You for dreams. Thank You for all the people who have sown positive thoughts, words, ideas, stories, and actions  into my life to keep my dreams alive. “Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting, for the cloud rested [shakhan] upon it, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.” (Exodus 40:35)

God’s shekinah glory is coming!
How are you going to get plugged into that?

In the middle of last week, our family experienced a major tempest. That set all of us significantly behind in our planned schedules. By the grace, of God, I barely managed to prepare and send out devotionals for July 26 and 27. Here’s how God rewarded my faithfulness and obedience.

Because I was running so far behind with our family disruption, it appeared I would not be able to send out devotionals for July 26 and 27. However, shortly before I left home to drive 4+ hours to Chesapeake Virginia on July 26, the Holy Spirit prompted me to prepare and send the devotional announcing the change in the meeting day and location for Pray Culpeper.

At 1:55 PM on July 26, I drove away from home to visit Jerry and Sharon Graham in Chesapeake. They had generously offered to open their home to me for dinner, conversation, and an overnight stay before my Accelerated Coach Training (ACT) group workshop in Norfolk on July 27. Jerry and Sharon are both professional life and nutritional coaches. I first met Jerry at my first (ACT) workshop on June 1, 2007.

When my ACT workshop finished at 5 PM on July 27, I immediately left to drive back home. Because of heavy rush hour traffic, I didn’t get back home until 10 PM. By then I figured I was too tired and it was too late to prepare a new devotional. While my wife was preparing a late dinner for us, I decided to check my email for the prior two days.

To my surprise, I discovered the email from Naomi Cottoms about 4,000,000 Bibles for Africa. While I don’t know Naomi and she had never sent me an email before, she was prompted to contact me after my July 26 devotional about the Pray Culpeper change. After reading Naomi’s touching email and visiting her web link and watching the video on the website, the Holy Spirit prompted me to prepare and send the devotional titled “4,000,000 Bibles for Africa” before midnight.

In response to that last devotional, Patti May sent me an email at 6:20 AM on July 28 telling me I “need to come and meet Michael Howard who just opened a bible school in Africa.”

Tomorrow I will share more about Michael Howard. He is the Founder and President of Shekinah Ministries and Kalibu Ministries in Africa Michael will be leading an “Intercession Conference” at the Church at Northern Virginia on Aug 10 and 12.

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, thank You for getting our family through the tempest last week. Thank You for everyone who prayed for us and encouraged us. Thank You that You will bring something great out of something meant for evil. Thank You for the chain reaction, including the devotionals and the replies from three different people, that will now lead me and many others to meet Michael Howard on Friday Aug 10 at 7 PM. Have Your way. Jesus, we invite You to be LORD of Virginia, America, Africa, and the world. Amen and hallelujah!

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1)

God rightly expects leaders to manage conflict. But how can you best accomplish this?

A good place to start is Proverbs 15:1 – yet while we often quote this verse, we seldom practice it. Sometimes only leaders are given liberty to express anger, and sooner or later this kind of unhealthy environment comes back to haunt them. Leaders must create safe places for communication.

The first seven verses of Proverbs 15 counsel on how to manage conflict.
1) Remain calm and gentle when confronting conflict, and your example will become contagious. (15:1)
2) Speak wisely, making sure your information is truthful and accurate. (15:2)
3) Remember, God is the ultimate Judge and will execute justice. (15:3)
4) Use your words to foster healing; fix the problem, not the blame. (15:4)
5) Stay teachable; be open to correction and quick to apologize when wrong. (15:5)
6) Add value to everyone who contacts you, even when you disagree. (15:6)
7) Speak words that spread knowledge and understanding. (15:7)

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, I praise You as the master Communicator. Help me become a master communicator by learning from Your Word, Your example, and people around me. May I always remain teachable. Bless me to be a great listener – to You, to my family, and to people you place around me. Help me apply the seven principles above, at home and at work. Bless those who read this message to do likewise. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Do you have a healthy balance between reading the Bible and praying?

The following comes from the “Prefatory Note” of Chapter 1 of Prevailing Prayer by D. L. Moody. 

The two first and essential means of grace are the Word of God and prayer. By these come conversion; for we are born again by the Word of God, which lives and abides forever; and whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

By these also we grow; for we are exhorted to desire the sincere milk of the Word that we may grow thereby, and we cannot grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ except we also speak to Him in prayer.

It is by the Word that the Father sanctifies us; but we are also bidden to watch and pray, lest we enter into temptation. These two means of grace must be used in their right proportion. If we read the Word and do not pray, we may become puffed up with knowledge, without the love that builds up. If we pray without reading the Word, we shall be ignorant of the mind and will of God, and become mystical and fanatical, and liable to be blown about by every wind of doctrine.

Prayer Power
LORD, thank You for Your Word and for prayer. Help me to maintain a healthy balance between those two. Bless those who read this message to do likewise. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
