We have a living God, a speaking God! One who loves us, His children, and He particularly loves to speak to us! He can speak to any one of us who love Him.

“In the Last Days I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17).

You might be thinking, “I read the Bible every day, so I’m hearing from the Lord every day.” While it’s good to read the Bible, the recorded Word of the Lord, which is the foundation of our Christian faith, it’s wonderful to also hear straight from the Lord and “take heed to His sure word of prophecy, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in our hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

His Word says to “Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6). So, every day should be a new experience for us, a new listening to the Voice of the Lord. Why live only on yesterdays spiritual food, when we can have fresh “manna from Heaven” (John 6:58) every day? Jesus still speaks today! Listen to what He told me on June 15, 2008:

I have the KEYS – simple keys to BREAKTHROUGH. It’s not complicated. You have to trust me on this. Just keep writing down what You hear me saying. I know what works and what doesn’t. I am the Alpha and Omega, so I see the end from the beginning. I have to show You before you can show others. What you shared at Soul Purpose Church today was good. Even though it seems that most people didn’t get it, seeds were planted. You have a generous heart. What you’re doing in secret, I will reward openly. That’s My word – that’s My promise.

Today was another historical day of taking a stand for the WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT. Team destiny hosted their final of three WFJ (Words From Jesus) webinars in December 2009 called “The Miracle of Christmas.”

Dr. Joseph Peck served as the global connector and host of this webinar. The guest panelists were: Deb Smith, Richard Mayhan, Bertha Hinson, and me, Abigail Slocum. Clearly the Holy Spirit took control of the webinar before it ever started and never let go!

He began by waking me up at 3:22 AM to give me this prophetic word – WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST! It was His way of orchestrating the whole focus for the discussion. These are the questions we covered:

WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST!

Take the tour of the Word and be free in Christ. CHRISTMAS IS A SEASON FOR MIRACLES BUT EVERY DAY IS A MIRACLE IN CHRIST! TO BE IN CHRIST IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL.

SALVATION IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL. It is Gods free gift to all mankind. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved (have eternal life).(John 3:16).

What is so miraculous is that SALVATION IS THE “GREAT EXCHANGE!” MAN GIVES GOD HIS IMPERFECT, BROKEN, SINFUL LIFE IN EXCHANGE FOR A PERFECT (COMPLETE) LIFE IN CHRIST. JESUS GIVES HIS ALL FOR OUR ALL!

When you receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD – THE CANDLE OF MAN, comes into your heart to show you the most excellent way of all to live. IT IS THE WAY OF LOVE BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE.

In this “GREAT EXCHANGE,” your old sinful man dies and the new man comes alive in Christ. CHRIST LIVES THROUGH YOU to live the perfect will of God which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17).

Unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is your inheritance as a born again child of God. IT IS A LIFE OF VICTORY AND TOTAL PROVISION. To be one with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is to be free from every bondage of sin and to be free to experience the fullness and abundance of life in Christ Jesus. JESUS IS THE DOOR TO FREEDOM AND TOTAL FULFILLMENT.

Jesus arms are open wide and ALL THAT BELONGS TO THE FATHER OF LIGHTS IS YOURS WHEN YOU SAY “YES” TO JESUS who is the express image and likeness of God, and His Kingdom of Love becomes yours!

IT IS A SUPERNATURAL GIFT OF DIVINE INFUSION AND PROPORTION AND IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL! Become one with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. ALLOW THE PRINCE OF PEACE TO RULE IN YOUR HEART FOREVERMORE, for God set eternity in the heart of man. He loves YOU so much and nothing will ever separate YOU from His love.

RECEIVE THE GREATEST GIFT KNOWN TO MANKIND AND LIVE “THE GREAT ADVENTURE” IN CHRIST. NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO THIS INDECSRIBABLE GIFT OF PURE AND PERFECT LOVE. It is greater than anything you ever wanted for Christmas for it is the desire of your heart. RECEIVE GODS GIFT AND SPEND THE REST OF YOUR NATURAL LIFE AND ETERNITY UNWRAPPING JESUS, GODS GIFT OF HIMSELF WHO IS PERFECT LOVE. THERE IS NO END TO LOVE. REJOICE AND BE AT PEACE. IMMANUEL HAS COME!

RECEIVE ALL OF THE GREATEST MIRACLE WHO EVER WAS OR IS TO COME! Let Christ have free reign in your heart and become His walking talking miracle and witness to all mankind. Your light has come. BE GLORIFIED IN HIS ETERNAL PRESENCE.

I LOVE YOU, MY CHILD. BE MADE WHOLE. ENTER THE JOY OF THE LORD. MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE PERFECT LOVER OF YOUR SOUL! BE SATISFIED IN ME. I AM YOUR FULFILLMENT AND HEARTS DESIRE. SHALOM.

Prayer Power

If you dont know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please say this prayer out loud from your heart and you shall be saved and come into God’s Kingdom of Love.

Father God, I believe in my heart that you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross for me. I believe Jesus paid my sin debt in full. It was a debt I could not repay and it was a debt Jesus did not owe. Thank You, Jesus. I accept your perfect gift and sacrifice. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Baptize me in the power of your Holy Spirit and I will serve you all the days of my life! I am saved! I am free! Thank you, in Jesus name. Amen.

May you allow the God of all hope and the Prince of Peace to rule in your heart this day and forevermore. May this truly be your most significant Christmas ever as the FULLNESS of the gift of God’s LOVE FOR YOU, becomes an everyday reality in your life!

Today (December 5, 2009) is a historical day because the “WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT” WAS LAUNCHED!!! Dr. Randy Peck hosted the Webinar (WFJ) WORDS FROM JESUS: HOW TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE. The topic was “The Spiritual Triangle Between Virginia, the U.K. and Italy. His guest panelists were Renato and Patrizia Amato from Italy and Lynne Lee from the U.K.

You may be wondering what is this WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT? Simply put it is the worldwide sharing of the Words From Jesus one receives in their quiet time with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the spiritual discipline of “Two Way Journaling,” namely written dialogue/prayer. This habit bears extraordinary fruit and creates major transformation. When shared it is wonderfully multiplied.

Renato and Patrizia have been missionaries for many years. They both have been journaling and recording the words they hear from Jesus for a long time. Renato began posting these “LIFE GIVING” words in his blog and called them WFJ (Words From Jesus). Other life time two way journalists: Lynne Lee , Dr. Randy Peck, Bertha Hinson and myself also began posting our own WFJ in our blogs.

We truly believe this is a God inspired idea led by the Holy Spirit to create a worldwide WFJ MOVEMENT. It will cause millions of people to desire to hear from God for themselves through two way journaling. Now more than any other time in history, people need to hear from God. People are so desperate and hungry to know that God loves them and has a purpose for their lives. He cares for them and wants to direct their lives step by step. God designed every human heart for relationship. Gods burning desire is to have an abiding intimate relationship with each one of us.

Long beore the Webinar began, the Lord woke me up at precisely 6:12 AM and prompted me to begin praying in the spirit and interceding with resurrection power for Dr. Randy Peck’s webinar today and for the WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT to begin with a bang!

The number 6:12 is significant.

6 is the # for man. I AM INTERCEDING FOR:

  1. The eyes of man to be opened to this God-sized WFJ move of God.
  2. The ears of man to be opened to this truth: UPON THIS WFJ ROCK OF REVELATION JESUS WILL BUILD HIS CHURCH”
  3. The hearts of man to be drawn like magnets all over the world by the power of the Holy Spirit to this call of God to come to Jesus and His Word.
  4. I pray for God to stir up a deep desire for men, women and children to want to learn how to two way journal so they can hear the voice of God for themselves and then publish His Word to the world.
  5. I declare in Jesus name that the mouth of the enemy is being slammed shut and the Words of Jesus are exponentially exploding in the earth to overcome every lie.
  6. Every knee of man will bow and every tongue of man will confess that JESUS IS LORD!

The number 12 is significant.

  1. Twelve is the number for government and apostolic authority.
  2. For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
  3. Twelve is the number of tribes of Israel. I CALL the tribes of the Lion of Judah to ARISE and take their rightful place in the plan of God and to spread the GOOD NEWS to the ends of the earth with the WORDS OF JESUS!

I want to invite and encourage everyone reading this to become a part of this vital worldwide move of God. Remember that “Two Way Journaling is God’s Supernatural HIGHway to His Heart!” Just start where you are!

Be blessed and go in the name of Jesus today knowing that WE ARE HISTORYMAKERS DECLARING THE WORDS FROM JESUS TO A DYING WORLD GROANING FOR THE SONS OF MAN TO BE MANIFEST IN THIS EARTH!

This book is about much more than journaling. It’s about much more than breakthroughs. It’s about developing a deep and abiding relationship with Me. It’s about understanding who I AM really is. It’s about learning to hear My voice so you can follow Me.

Randy, the most important thing you can do today is plan. BE PREPARED. As Matt has shared with you, each minute of planning is worth ten minutes of work. Today I will bring to your mind a list of things you are to do. Put those in a list and sort them in the order you sense they should be done. I will guide you even in that process and as usual, I may interject something new or rearrange what you have written down. That’s the way it is when you are chasing the Wild Goose. Your days have to be open and flexible to experience the unexpected.

I’m smiling down on you, Randy, right now. Thank You for never giving up on Me or turning your back on me even though you’ve had to watch must of what I had given you taken away. Your security was never in your retirement account. It wasn’t in your home. It was in Me. I am your rock and have always been so. I called you to a loving relationship with Me and you said “yes..”  That was the turning point in your life and in your relationships.

What simple step can you take TODAY to be better steward of those?

On Friday Feb 13, the Holy Spirit prompted me to spend several hours doing an inventory of my relationships. During that process, the LORD revealed to me how to use The Journal software to take my stewardship of relationships to a whole new level. That is the topic of today’s 8 pm EST webinar. I invite you to join Jerry and me for that.

Under the category JIREH Marketing, I created a new category called Joint Ventures and under that I created 3 tiers of people I know and correspond with regularly – Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Under Level 1, I created categories using names of people who have had a dramatic impact on my life and sorted those people in chronological order – the order God brought them into my life.

My parents were first. They modeled the love of God throughout my life. They instilled in me the habit of going to church every week. They taught me countless values which have not only impacted me, but ten of thousands of people I have come across during my lifetime.

After my parents, came Rev. Mark Jarvis. Not only did he lead me to a personal relationship with Jesus and disciple me spiritually, but he opened the door for a long-term relationship with Rev. Matt Gregory, my current pastor, and Michael Stay. The four of us met weekly in a coaching group for 4 years. Through this support network, my faith grew exponentially and many Kingdom doors of opportunity were opened.

Following them, other people I listed included Erick Kalenga, Virginia Morton, Rick Heeren, Jack Serra, Jeff Bernstein, Joseph Umidi, Bowie Curry, Jack Stagman, Jerry Graham, Ben Stewart, Mark Virkler, Karla Meachem, and Lynne Lee.

Today I want to give a special thanks to Karla and Lynne. Both of these ladies I met through Twitter. They both chose to become JIREH Marketing members. And in just a few months, they have had a profound impact on me. Both are extremely humble. They are avid users of Relationship Marketing (Web 2.0). And both keep their eyes focused on Jesus and daily seek His Kingdom and His righteousness. Through their close relationships with Jesus, they supernaturally manifest the “go-giver” philosophy.

This morning I visited Karla’s site Empowering Christian Women, which is my favorite site ever for Christian resources. I was particularly touched by the Father’s Love Letter” YouTube vido. See Blessings of the Day to learn more.

Karla also has a personal blog titled “More of Him: Less of Me.” This morning when I visited that, I noticed Karla wrote, “I’ve been asked to do another interview on internet radio. Once again, I am stepping out in faith. :) This will be my 3rd interview this month ~ one last Tuesday, one last Wednesday and another one soon – please stay tuned for the details.”

What’s amazing is that Karla’s breakthroughs and some of my new breakthroughs came as a result of her choice to sow a financial seed to be JIREH Marketing Member. As a result, she joined TEAM DESTINY, God’s team to change lives and disciple nations. As a result of that, Dr. Jerry Graham and I hosted Karla as our guest expert for the “JIREH Marketing: Empowering Christian Women” webinar on Feb 3.

That was Karla’s very first interview and now the gates of heaven are open for her to have explosive Kingdom impact. PTL. You go girl.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the precious gift of relationships, which are the currency of the Kingdom of God. I thank You for each and every person who has sown good seeds into my life. I thank You for the recent relationships you helped me establish with Karla Meachem and Lynne Lee. Thank You for the new and big doors of opportunity You are opening for both of them. Bless their marriages, their families, and their ministries (businesses). May both of them accomplish more for Your Kingdom in 2009 than they did previously in their entire lives. Thank You Jesus. What good will God bring out of this horrible tragedy?
 
Normally I get up around 5 am. On Saturday morning August 30, I chose to sleep in to catch up on my rest. Around 7:30 am, my wife came back to our bedroom to tell me that she had some very said news. She told me that Pastor Randy Orndorff’s daughter (Kelsey) was killed in a head-on car collision the evening before. Kelsey was Randy’s only daughter. He has an older son (Josh) and younger son (Jordan).

I felt devastated. Pastor Randy is a dear friend. He has been a key supporter of our Pray Culpeper team. He served as President of the Culpeper Ministerial Association for 2006 and 2007. During the past 3 years, Pastor Randy has been one of the most influential pastors positively impacting the spiritual climate of the Culpeper community.

During his interview in 2005 on my local TV show called A Life of Blessing, I remember Pastor Randy telling me “We do ministry together.” He was speaking of his family – his wife and 3 children.

Josh Orndorff, Randy and Lee Anne’s oldest son, went to Argentina in Nov 2006 for the annual meeting for the International Institute on Nation Transformation sponsored by Harvest Evangelism.  When he came back, he proceeded to be a catalyst to bring spiritual transformation to his high school and our region.

The fatal car accident took place around 5:50 pm on Friday at a dangerous section of Route 3. Kelsey was on her way from Culpeper to  Fredericksburg for a Christian concert featuring American Idol’s sixth season cast-off Chris Sligh at Fredericksburg Christian High School.

Kelsey’s car collided head-on with that of Dr. Bryon Cook, who was returning from Fredericksburg. I worked with Bryon for 12 years while serving as an anesthesiologist at Culpeper Regional Hospital. Bryon was air-lifted to UVA Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition at UVA.

Kelsey was scheduled to preach her very first sermon – a full-length message at all three of worship services at Culpeper United Methodist

Church on Sunday August 31. When her father asked her if she was prepared, she shared that she was going to share a message from her heart and chose not to write it down.

My wife and I attended the moving prayer vigil held at 7 pm on Sat August 30 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church. It was standing room only with more than 600 people in attendance. Tomorrow I will post photos from that and provide a link to those.

After hearing several testimonies of people who knew Kelsey well, it’s clear that her legacy is one of love. She loved Jesus and expressed that love everywhere she went. She particularly had a heart to help the homeless – people Jesus told us to love, but outcasts by most of our culture.

A memorial service will be held for Kelsey Orndorff at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Culpeper United Methodist Church. A service of celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverton Methodist Church in Front Royal. Memorial contributions can be made to Culpeper United Methodist Church at 1233 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper, Va. 22701.
 
Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, our hearts are broken over this recent tragedy, both the death of Kelsey Onrdorff and the serious injury to Dr. Bryon Cook. We cry out to You, our God of comfort and healing, to bring comfort to the families and close friends of those involved and to bring healing to Dr. Cook. We thank You that somehow, someway You will bring something great out of something so tragic. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

How do you view your heavenly Father’s love?

Yesterday morning before my wife and I left to drive from Culpeper to Falls Church for Memorial Day festivities, two devotional messages from web clients of mine (Jerry Graham and Robert Hartzell) really jumped out at me and led me to write my devotional messages for yesterday and today.

While I initially had planned not to send out a devotional on Memorial Day, I was so stirred by Jerry’s Daily Gram, particularly the Memorial Day song, that I wrote yesterday’s message titled “A Special Memorial Day Tribute and Song.”

When I read Robert’s devotional titled “Is God Angry,” I sensed that many people would benefit substantially from hearing about that, especially those who never knew the love of an earthly father. In my particular case, I was very fortunate to grow up in a home with two very loving parents with servant hearts, so it’s always been easy for me to believe in a loving God and to gladly sow good seeds into other people’s lives. Here is what Robert shared:

Obedience Based on Fear

When I was still a boy my family and I went to a restaurant. My brother and I used our napkins properly and kept our elbows off the table, we were not noisy nor did we interrupt, in fact we did not speak unless spoken to. A couple sitting nearby commented to my dad how well-mannered my brother and I were. What they did not know was that we lived with an abusive father and were obedient for fear of our lives!

My father extracted our obedience, but at what cost? I grew up hating him and rebelled in every way. He extracted obedience, but he did it based on fear and control, producing only an outward conformity.

I cannot put into words how huge I think this is! This is the church; this is the world system; this is the debate of our times!

Abba, Father, we praise You as the God of love, the God who says in Jeremiah 31:3, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.” Help each of us to grasp the full meaning of this holy Word and then apply it to how we love others. How can others tell?

During the worship service at Soul Purpose Church on Sunday morning February 10, Mike Webb shared Jesus’ 3 R’s for Valentine’s Day. Those really hit home for me. Here they are:

1) Remember from where you have fallen
2) Repent of your wrong attitudes
3) Redo the first works

While preparing today’s devotional, I came across this outstanding excerpt from the foreword of Tony Evan’s e-book “Returning to Your First Love”:

If the Lord Jesus Christ were to come to your house or mine and sit down with us, what do you think He would say? I believe one of the first things He would ask is, “Do you love Me?” That’s the question the resurrected Christ asked Simon Peter three times at their seaside breakfast (John 21:15-17). Peter had denied the Lord at His crucifixion, and he needed to be restored.

Jesus undertook that restoration by bringing Simon back to the basic issue: “Do you love Me?” The Savior wasn’t satisfied until He had zeroed in on the issue of Peter’s love for Him and gotten the right answer. Only then did Jesus release Peter for ministry: “Feed My sheep.”

The lesson Jesus taught Peter – and the lesson the Holy Spirit wants to teach us – in this marvelous passage is the fundamental lesson that devotion precedes duty. One reason this is important is that we so often get the order reversed.

If we had been in Jesus? place that day by the seashore, most of us would have asked Simon Peter an entirely different set of questions. We probably would have asked him if he was truly sorry for what he did in denying Christ, and if he had confessed his sin and been forgiven.

Or we might have started off by asking Peter if he was still serious about being a disciple, if he still wanted to be a member of the team. The more devotionally minded among us would have quizzed Peter about his personal life, making sure he was spending time daily in prayer and study of the Scriptures.

And the service minded among us would probably have made sure Peter knew what his spiritual gifts were and was plugged into a ministry in which he was exercising those gifts.

But Jesus did not ask Peter about any of these things. Did Jesus not care about Peter’s spiritual condition and future service? Of course He did. But Jesus knew that unless Peter’s service was motivated by intense love for Him, it would lead to duty without devotion, practice without passion.

That’s also true for you and me, by the way. Our love for Christ is so foundational that Jesus Himself called it our “first love” in Revelation 2:4.

Prayer Power
Jesus, thank You for dying for me and forgiving all my sins. Thank You for delivering me from a messed up life. May I never forget my first love. To You be all glory, honor, and praise, now and forever. Amen.

How can I be more loving and loyal to those closest to me?
What life lessons can I learn from a dog?

Yesterday, Ginger died. She was our 13 year old golden retriever and an integral part of our family. While our hearts are heavy, we’ve found this is a time to celebrate Ginger’s life and the joy God brought to our family through her.

My first experience having a dog at home came when my parents got a black lab during my first year of college. While Barney left many happy memories, I decided when my kids were young not to have our own dog because I didn’t want the expense or hassle. But God knew how to get around my selfishness. One day my 9 year old daughter came home pleading for me to allow her to adopt a baby golden retriever, the most gentle of a nine puppy litter. I couldn’t say no to my “princess of light.”

About six years ago when my wife and I were going through a very difficult time in our marriage, God used Ginger to draw us back together. After Ginger got hit by a slow-moving car while walking slowly in the middle of our street, Julia and I realized that Ginger was very out-of-shape and needed to be walked regularly.

But when Julia and I were both home, Ginger wouldn’t walk unless both of us walked her together. If one of us tried to walk her by ourselves, Ginger would go outside and bark until the other person came. It turned out our walks were very beneficial because they forced us to spend quality time together communicating without all the distractions in a home.

A few months ago Ginger had a lymphoma (cancer) surgically removed from her back. Gradually her health began deteriorating. A few weeks ago her appetite dropped off and then 5 days ago she lost the ability to walk. Fortunately Ginger managed to hang in just long enough to allow my wife, children, and parents to spend time with her together for one last day. We are very grateful to our neighbors and friends who came over to comfort Ginger and us during this difficult time.

One thing that particularly stood out to me in the last few days of Ginger’s life was Julia’s compassion and patience. I saw a glimpse of how blessed people are when my wife befriends them. I thank God for such a caring and hard-working helpmate.

In the past few weeks, Julia has told me on several occasions, “Dog spelled backwards is God.” It’s often said that a dog is man’s best friend. For me, a dog’s loyalty is merely a reflection of God’s everlasting and unconditional love for His children.
