We have a living God, a speaking God! One who loves us, His children, and He particularly loves to speak to us! He can speak to any one of us who love Him.

“In the Last Days I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17).

You might be thinking, “I read the Bible every day, so I’m hearing from the Lord every day.” While it’s good to read the Bible, the recorded Word of the Lord, which is the foundation of our Christian faith, it’s wonderful to also hear straight from the Lord and “take heed to His sure word of prophecy, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in our hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

His Word says to “Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6). So, every day should be a new experience for us, a new listening to the Voice of the Lord. Why live only on yesterday�s spiritual food, when we can have fresh “manna from Heaven” (John 6:58) every day? Jesus still speaks today! Listen to what He told me on June 15, 2008:

I have the KEYS – simple keys to BREAKTHROUGH. It’s not complicated. You have to trust me on this. Just keep writing down what You hear me saying. I know what works and what doesn’t. I am the Alpha and Omega, so I see the end from the beginning. I have to show You before you can show others. What you shared at Soul Purpose Church today was good. Even though it seems that most people didn’t get it, seeds were planted. You have a generous heart. What you’re doing in secret, I will reward openly. That’s My word – that’s My promise.

Today was another historical day of taking a stand for the WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT. Team destiny hosted their final of three WFJ (Words From Jesus) webinars in December 2009 called “The Miracle of Christmas.”

Dr. Joseph Peck served as the global connector and host of this webinar. The guest panelists were: Deb Smith, Richard Mayhan, Bertha Hinson, and me, Abigail Slocum. Clearly the Holy Spirit took control of the webinar before it ever started and never let go!

He began by waking me up at 3:22 AM to give me this prophetic word – WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST! It was His way of orchestrating the whole focus for the discussion. These are the questions we covered:

WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST!

Take the tour of the Word and be free in Christ. CHRISTMAS IS A SEASON FOR MIRACLES BUT EVERY DAY IS A MIRACLE IN CHRIST! TO BE IN CHRIST IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL.

SALVATION IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL. It is God�s free gift to all mankind. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved (have eternal life).(John 3:16).

What is so miraculous is that SALVATION IS THE “GREAT EXCHANGE!” MAN GIVES GOD HIS IMPERFECT, BROKEN, SINFUL LIFE IN EXCHANGE FOR A PERFECT (COMPLETE) LIFE IN CHRIST. JESUS GIVES HIS ALL FOR OUR ALL!

When you receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD – THE CANDLE OF MAN, comes into your heart to show you the most excellent way of all to live. IT IS THE WAY OF LOVE BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE.

In this “GREAT EXCHANGE,” your old sinful man dies and the new man comes alive in Christ. CHRIST LIVES THROUGH YOU to live the perfect will of God which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17).

Unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is your inheritance as a born again child of God. IT IS A LIFE OF VICTORY AND TOTAL PROVISION. To be one with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is to be free from every bondage of sin and to be free to experience the fullness and abundance of life in Christ Jesus. JESUS IS THE DOOR TO FREEDOM AND TOTAL FULFILLMENT.

Jesus� arms are open wide and ALL THAT BELONGS TO THE FATHER OF LIGHTS IS YOURS WHEN YOU SAY “YES” TO JESUS who is the express image and likeness of God, and His Kingdom of Love becomes yours!

IT IS A SUPERNATURAL GIFT OF DIVINE INFUSION AND PROPORTION AND IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL! Become one with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. ALLOW THE PRINCE OF PEACE TO RULE IN YOUR HEART FOREVERMORE, for God set eternity in the heart of man. He loves YOU so much and nothing will ever separate YOU from His love.

It is greater than anything you ever wanted for Christmas for it is the desire of your heart. RECEIVE GOD�S GIFT AND SPEND THE REST OF YOUR NATURAL LIFE AND ETERNITY UNWRAPPING JESUS, GOD�S GIFT OF HIMSELF WHO IS PERFECT LOVE. THERE IS NO END TO LOVE. REJOICE AND BE AT PEACE. IMMANUEL HAS COME!

RECEIVE ALL OF THE GREATEST MIRACLE WHO EVER WAS OR IS TO COME! Let Christ have free reign in your heart and become His walking talking miracle and witness to all mankind. Your light has come. BE GLORIFIED IN HIS ETERNAL PRESENCE.

Prayer Power

“You shall love your neighbor AS YOURSELF.” (Mark 12:31)

How would you rate your health in each of these four areas — spiritual, physical, emotional, relational — from 1 (terrible) to 10 (fantasic)?

Today is Day 5 in our 30 days series titled “One Month To Live,” based on Kerry and Chris Shook’s book by that same title. “One Month To Live empowers you to focus on being who God created you to be – passionate, fully alive, living without regrets.”

If you’ve flown before on a commercial airline, you probably are familiar with this routine airline safety announcement, “In the event that our cabin pressure should change, an oxygen mask will be released from the overhead compartment. Please place the oxygen mask on yourself first before helping small children or others who may need assistance.”

While it may seem obvious that you can’t help anyone if you have passed out from lack of oxygen yourself, I’ve been guilty over the past few years of putting the oxygen mask on many others without taking in enough oxygen myself.

I confess that I have grossly undervalued my time and made poor choices that have allowed numerous Christians and Christian organizations to soak up my time and financial resources to the point where my income and business has become cachectic. Julia and I have sown every last penny we own into God’s Kingdom work.

We’ve reached the point where we must be STRATEGIC in business and ministry. We can no longer afford to offer free services to any businesses or organizations.

It’s not that we don’t care. We simply don’t have any more money or time to give away.

Here are some excerpts from Chapter 5 of Kerry and Chris’ book.

Jesus indicates that before we can really love others and make a difference in their lives, we have to first love ourselves. You have to first take time to get healthy so you can impact the world around you.

Get Physical: Whether you have thirty days or thirty years left, you should realize that how you treat your body has a direct and lasting impact on the quality of life you enjoy. Our bodies require sleep, exercise, clean air, water, and quality nourishment. To be healthy physically, we must be healthy spiritually and listen to what God says about our bodies. How Do You Feel: The next crucial area where we must breathe first is in our emotional lives. So many people function according to how they feel. A huge part of maturing, of growing up, is learning to acknowledge and experience our emotions without being controlled by them. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and of love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7, RSV).

Relationally Connected: The whole reason we put the oxygen mask on ourselves first is so we can breathe in and get healthy and help someone find God’s oxygen. Breathing first is not selfish. It’s essential.

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, forgive me for putting the oxygen mask on many others while neglecting myself. Thank You for your wake up call. I finally get it. May I never forget this life lesson. May many others benefit from the hard lesson I have learned. Thank You Jesus. Amen and hallelujah!

Make It Last For Life – 3 simple action steps to apply today’s message

1) How would you rate your health in each of these four areas — spiritual, physical, emotional, relational — from 1 (terrible) to 10 (fantasic)? What’s the greatest challenge to improving your health in these areas? What can you do to work through this challenge?

2) Spend time journaling about a specific goal for each of these four areas that you can pursue during the rest of this month. Make sure the goals are practicle and measurable.

Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. What ACTION step will you take within 24 hours to TURNAROUND your life?

March 3 was the most profound day of my life!

During the weekly Marching Through Culpeper prayer call on March 10, Virginia Morton shared with our prayer team of 9 people that the keyword the LORD gave her for this week is TURNAROUND. God is a God of turnarounds. Virginia said she was drawn to the book of Esther and this week we focus on the story of Esther.

As mentioned in my YDB devotional sent earlier on March 10 titled “Organizing Your Life,” 94 people registered for Lynne Lee’s webinar interview of me and 34 people showed up live for the inaugural launch of her Christian LIFE Coaching Cafe on March 3.

Within just 48 hours of that TURNAROUND event, two people bought my “UNCOMMON Journaling For Breakthroughs” e-book and 28 more downloaded the free Introduction. And at least 5-7 guests on the webinar committed to join Lynne’s Christian LIFE Coaching Cafe. following my webinar.

As I was writing this devotional, I realized March 3 was a major TURNAROUND day, not just for me, but for many people around the world. My journaling e-book had finally been completed and was being offered for sale. During my two-way prayer time on March 3, Jesus told me:

I didn’t plan to send any message today, but after just reading an email my father forwarded to me titled “Sarah is an Esther!!!” and researching this more online, I knew with absolute certainty that this message must go out TODAY!

After spending 30 minutes reading the Bible this morning in my secret place and then praying through my written prayer list for an hour, I went for a mile walk with my wife on this gorgeous Fall morning.

When we got back home, I retrieved the Culpeper Star Exponent (daily newspaper) in my mailbox. What caught my attention was the front page article about a record number of registered voters for the November 4 election.

Like many other people, I have never been more passionate about an election than this one. And what made me most passionate was John McCain’s vice presidential nomination of Governor Sarah Palin. When I watched Sarah’s Republican National Convention speech on YouTube that lit a fire within me.

Pastor Mark Arnold’s testimony of his encounter with Senator John McCain and Sarah Palin is by far the most riveting one I have heard during the entire presidential campaign. Here is just an excerpt of what he wrote:

When McCain came to hug her… he immediately shook my hand and following his moment with her, I shook his hand as he grabbed my hand, now for the second time, and I said, “God wants you to know that I’m praying for you, Sir!” He thanked me and kept smiling.  I repeated that phrase to him five times.  He grabbed my hands and looked right into my eyes and said, “I won’t make it without prayer.  Sir, Thank You for praying for me, and don’t let one day go by that you don’t pray for me.  I need all the prayers that I can get. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!”

As he moved to my right, Sarah Palin, came over to my left side…standing over the crowd and  then looking at the little lady who had lost the son.  It took a moment for her to shake some hands and people were pushing in all around.  Sarah came and got on her hands and knees on that side of the stage and hugged that little Mom, telling her, “…it was not in vain.”  She promised her support. 

It was at this moment Sarah Palin, reached out for me to help her up and as I was assisting her to stand was now face to face with her and GOD said, “Open up your Mouth and I will fill it.”

Here is what came out…
 
[She immediately began to cry]!
“God wants to tell you that you are Chosen for such a time as this!”
“You are called, and chosen to be a leader.”
“Don’t lose heart and don’t fear man.”

I encourage each and every one of you to read Pastor Mark Arnold’s entire message at today’s Link of the Day. Read it with an open mind and open spirit. Then pass the message along to others as the Holy Spirit guides you.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your great favor that is upon Governor Sarah Palin. May You use her to rescue our nation from the utter chaos that besets us just as You used Esther to save the Jewish people from being completely exterminated thousands of years ago. May You grace this message to spread like wild fire through the social networks. Thank You Jesus! It’s in Your holy and precious name, we humble ourselves and pray believing! Amen and Hallelujah!

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

How can you empower your life story?
Will you commit to meet with Jesus daily?
When and where are you going to start?
How long are you going to meet with Jesus each day?
What resources do you need to meet with Jesus?

I’ve had a Wow! morning. God is so good! I’ll share part of the story this morning and more tomorrow. If you need encouragement today, read on.

Yesterday at Soul Purpose Church, Pastor Matt preached a message titled “My Life Story Empowered.” He shared that you’ll never know you’re soul purpose until you meet Jesus and then meet with Jesus daily. Key scriptures were Psalm 119:105 and Exodus 33:7-17.

Matt first addressed the question “How do I meet with God?” and then laid out these 4 simple steps

1) Opening prayer – preparation (confess sin) and permission (“Whatever You tell me to do, I’ll do.”)

2) Read (or listen to) Bible. According to Hebrews 4:12, the Word of God is living and active (if you let it be). According to Henry Blackaby, “The Bible is not something that leads to a connection with God; It is the connection with God.” Matt pointed out that while the U.S. Constitution is often referred to a living, breathing document, it’s not really. But contrast this with the Bible.

Matt answered the question “Where do I start in reading through the Bible?” by recommending John, 1 John, Luke, Acts, Romans, then Genesis in that order. What a great suggestion.

Matt’s answer to the question “What am I looking for as I read?” was SPACE PETS = Sin to confess, Promise to claim, Attitude to change, Command to obey, Example to follow, Prayer to pray, Error to avoid, Truth to be believed, Something to thank God for.

3) Journal – meditate and record answers to these questions:
a) What did God say to me? (Which of the SPACE PETS really got my attention today)
b) Why did God say that to me today?
c) What am I going to do today because of what God said to me? (What needs to change?)
d) With whom can I share what God said to me today?

4) Record your response prayer. Commit to follow what He has shown you today. Praise Him for who He is. Thank him for what He has done.

Then Matt did something that every preacher would benefit from. He gave each person 10 minutes to actually practice what he taught using Psalm 1. As I read that Psalm, I underlined “meditates on it (the Word of God) day and night” as my one Command to obey. I made the commitment to spend an hour each morning and night in My Secret Place reading the Bible and praying for specific people on a written list starting that evening.

So yesterday evening before I went to bed, I read all of 1 John out loud in our home. That resulted in a rocket launch this morning. Be sure to catch tomorrow’s message and opportunity.

Jesus, thank You that every day each of us has the opportunity to meet with You by reading your Word with an open mind and an open heart. Thank You for helping me write today’s message. May those who read it be doers of Your Word, not just hearers. We bless You. Amen and hallelujah!

Blessings to empower your life story through a daily meeting with Jesus!

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but ONE THING I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, (Philippians 3:13)

In yesterday’s message titled “One Thing,” I shared that in the middle of my sabbatical year (2007), God connected me with Jerry and Sharon Graham, who together make up “The Coaching Pair.” The slogan on their website even before I met them was “Guiding You To Your Destiny.”

If it hadn’t been for Jerry, I would not have taken the second of a series of 3 courses offered by Lifeforming Leadership Coaching titled “Life Focus.” That course and that choice had a profound impact on the direction of the rest of my life and what I do. All the DESTINY products, courses, and memberships being developed are a result of that.

So even though in 2007 I failed miserably in my goal to review much of my journals for the previous 5 years, God still accomplished His purposes by leading me to a course and DESTINY coach to allow me to reflect on my past, dream for the future, and narrow my focus.

There is tremendous power in FOCUS. Simple sunlight shining through a magnifying glass can ignite a fire. Simple “white” light shining through the right prism in the right way can produce a laser beam that can cut through steal. There is tremendous POWER in a focused life. The apostle Paul, the greatest salesman in the history of the world for the Word of God, said “but ONE THING I do” (Philippians 3:13). He was extremely focused.

About four years ago, God transitioned me from an established church to be part of a new church plant, which became Soul Purpose Church. After taking our DESTINY course that began in June 2008, Pastor Matt Gregory officially adopted this mission for SPC, “Coaching You To Discover And Fulfill Your Soul Purpose.”

Can you see the pattern here? God has subtly repositioned me as a DESTINY Coach as I sought His Kingdom and His righteousness first every day. He’s built a team – Team Destiny – and the team is growing rapidly. This has been a process. Journaling has helped bring lots of clarity.

On September 5, I close my email reply to Joseph Umidi with this “P.S.” – “Today I was thinking what I would say if someone asked me what I do. My answer would be, “I’m a DESTINY Coach.” And that’s thanks to you. ” Journaling has allowed God to be my Master Coach. Everyone of my major websites now includes coaching as a vital part.

In “The Greatest Salesman In The World” book, Og Mandino shared that “Many have achieved great success with one sales talk delivered with excellence.” That’s the power of focus.

In my July 10, 2006 devotional titled, “Redeeming The Time“, I shared that “You redeem your time by seeking God’s Kingdom first!” Life Changing Seminars is “helping God’s people better invest their most valuable resourse – TIME.”

Change seldom takes place without first asking questions. Jesus shaped His disciples’ thinking by asking them questions. When Jesus was asked questions, He often responded with questions. Questions can be very useful in discerning God’s will. The link below with “101 Questions” will help you discern God’s best for your life and to become more effective for Him.
