The Law of Navigation

21 November 2006 No Comment

God’s plans usually unfold over time.

The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits. Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established. (Proverbs 16:1-3)

What is God revealing to you over time?
Are you working to accomplish your purposes, or God’s?

The first three verses of Proverbs 16 above teach us to:
1) Check the source of our wisdom
2) Check our motives
3) Check the outcome we are pursuing

Consider five key words to understand how God helps leaders navigate their way through life.
1) Process: God’s plan usually unfolds over time. what is He revealing progressively?
2) Purpose: God wants to accomplish His purposes. Why were you created?
3) Potential: God will use your gifts and passion. Does this goal fit who you are?
4) Prioritize: God will ask you to adjust your time and energy. What steps must you take?
5) Proceed: God will eventually require you to act. When should you start?

Prayer Power
Abba, Father, thank You that You’re in charge and I’m not. Thank You that Your holy Word promises You are working all things for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purposes (Romans 8:28) – even when it doesn’t seem that way at times. I commit all my works to you. Thank You for your promise to establish my thoughts, which ultimately determine my destiny. In Jeshua’s name, I pray. Amen.
